SANAM is recognised as having revived the dying independent music scene and band culture in India by being India’s most popular music artist digitally with maximum YouTube subscriptions crossing 2.4 Million Subscribers and growing steadily. The band so far has recorded and performed songs majorly in Hindi and English as well as a in other languages like Spanish, Bengali and Gujarati. In a press conference earlier this week, they talked about their YouTube success. The Band believes in creating a change in society through their music and recently released a song dedicated to female foeticide. They also addressed the crowd on the importance of spreading love and loving yourself. Showcasing their playful side, they also did a medley of songs with the word “sanam” in the lyrics and had the audience emphasize it for effect! They ended with a soulful rendition of “Tujhse Naaraz Nahi Zindagi” whilst holding up placards to spread awareness on Female foeticide, Human trafficking and Domestic violence. Along with these, they performed to hit international numbers such as Despacito in Spanish, Shape of you by Ed Sheeran and played some of their original compositions as well. They performed retro classics like ‘Lag Jaa Gale’, ‘Aap Ki Nazron Ne Samjha’, ‘Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi’ and ‘Gulabi Aankhen’ that had the audience mesmerised and singing along. The festival was presented by ‘Virsaa’ as a step to further its position as leading music festival for the urban youth in the country in its second season.ĭuring the two hour power packed performance, the 4-member band, Sanam Puri, Samar Puri, Venky S & Keshav Dhanraj wooed Pune with their distinguished sound and style, blending four different musical influences.
